Action for 2 war bands (24 instruments)
6 pairs of instructions taken from the Mexican Military Code (1st. ed. 1999, Major State of National Defense), print on archive paper, 40x60cm each pair


Two mexican military bands perform two opposing military commands simultaneously, impossible to execute at the same time.

The performance reveals to the public the meaning of the codes from the Manual for National Defense, restricted and inaccessible to public consult. (1.) Alarm: Announces a state of war - Silence: Announces a state of peace. (2.) Attack: Call to take action - Stop: Call to stop any action. (3.) Fire: Start shooting - Cease fire: Cease the shooting. (4.) Align Formation: Set order - Break Formation: Dislocate order. (5.) Left: Lead left - Right: Lead right. (6.) On Guard: Rise weapons - On Rest: Drop weapons.
